How Our Residential Construction Leads are Generated

We build and manage Facebook ad campaigns on behalf of your company. Thousands of local homeowners will see your ad on Facebook or Instagram, and some will reach out to you - becoming leads.

An illustration that shows the progression from targeting, to running ads, to capturing leads, and priming the leads with a video

1. Target Locally

We'll set up targeting based on the service area you operate in. Facebook will then show your ad to people within the radius or zip codes that match our targeting criteria.

2. Attract the Best

It's important to attract construction customers who will be a good fit for your business. These customers are already in your market, you just need to reach them with the right message. We build out ads and images geared towards these ideal customers.

3. Convert

Using your company's strengths as unique selling points, we'll persuade interested homeowners to fill out a form to receive a quote from your business.

4. Prime for Closing

Your residential construction leads will then be directed to a sales video. This sales video will highlight your company's strengths and help build trust with your potential future customers.

What Makes Service Allies Leads Stand Out

Good Lead Quality

We structure our ads to attract high quality leads. Many of our clients report that Service Allies leads are better than leads they receive from other sources. Following our appointment setter process, you can normally book around 30% to 40% of our leads for sales appointments.

Scalable Lead Volume

Your monthly lead volume is flexible. Whether you're looking for 20, 60, or 100+ leads each month, we can accommodate you. Keep in mind that your service area needs to be large enough to support the lead volume you want.

A basement-specialized Pennsylvania contractor adds $470,000 in basement finish sales

Pennsylvania basement finish company adds a cool $470,000 in revenue with Service Allies

Objective

A specialized remodeler based in Pennsylvania decided to utilize Service Allies to get more leads for basement remodeling projects. They specifically wanted to focus on basement finishes, since these types of projects tend to have the least amount of headaches.

What’s unique about this company is that they have one area of remodeling expertise: basements. So for them, keeping a pipeline full of basement projects is crucial.

How it Went

They started working with Service Allies in September of 2021. Over the course of running ads for 9 months, they sold $430,000 worth of tracked revenue. Later, they sold an additional basement project that brought their total number up to $470,000.

They are still working this lead list and are about to launch email campaigns to help pull even more projects out of the leads they received.

ROI

This was all for a total investment of $35,000 (including ad spend). So, in total, their ad spend to revenue ratio was greater than 1:13!

Other Benefits

In addition to the revenue we could track, their business got in front of 150,138 people and was seen 683,531 times.

While it’s hard to predict how much additional revenue was a direct result of those impressions, we do often see that it has a strong impact for our clients.

Other Notes

This client prefers to keep their company name private.

More About Residential Construction Leads

Getting Residential Leads Through Facebook Ads

Service Allies offers residential lead generation to construction companies. We get leads using paid Facebook ads. We set up a local area to target, create winning ads, and show them to customers in that area.

We only focus on residential leads. At this time, we don’t have a program for commercial B2B lead generation.

Types of Residential Construction Leads

Additions

Home addition projects can produce hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue. Whether a customer is looking to add a second story, add a bump out, sunroom, or other type of addition, these projects can be sizable. We can use the messaging and images in our ads to attract specific types of projects. If you’re looking for second story additions, for example, we can feature pictures with this type of work.

Basement Finishes

Is your company good at finishing basements? Service Allies has had a lot of success getting basement finish leads. These projects can range from $50,000 to $125,000 in revenue, and are relatively easier than other types of construction projects.

We focus on our ads on customers with unfinished basements and try to steer clear from customers who are looking to remodel an already finished basement, since these types of projects can be a lot of hassle.

New Home Builds

If you build homes for customers, Facebook ads can be a powerful way to get them to reach out to you. We can feature beautiful homes you’ve designed and or built in our ads and get new customers reaching out to you.

To help build confidence in your company, Service Allies will create a sales video explaining your process from start to finish, and show how design plans turned into reality for your customers.

How Facebook Finds Your Customers

Facebook uses artificial intelligence to show ads to the right people at the right time. This is based on customer demographics, where they live, and most importantly, their activity.

When homeowners start researching for their construction project, Facebook picks it up and sees that they’re in the market. If local companies are advertising construction services, the homeowner will then start seeing these ads.

Unlike Google Ads, where customers need to find you, you can use Facebook ads to find them

Expected Results

There are two types of powerful results that Facebook ads generate: direct response and brand exposure.

Direct Response Results

Direct response is when a prospect directly responds to an ad. Meaning they see the ad, click on it, and fill out their contact information. At this point they become a lead.

Our average lead cost across our client accounts is about $50 per lead in ad spend. This varies from market to market. The factors that affect lead cost are:

  • Size of your market (population of homeowners who fit your customer profile)
  • Supply and demand (how many other contractors are advertising for the same thing)
  • Unique selling points (what you can do that other contractors can’t)

You would think that the bigger the project, the more expensive the leads will be. That’s not the case.

For example, a local handyman I worked with had me advertising TV mounts. At most, his ticket size was around $150. But his leads were coming in at almost $100 each.

We talked about what else we could advertise for. He mentioned that he could do fences. In this market, these fence projects range from $10,000 to $15,000.

Most local contractors were booked out 3 to 6 months. Since he had the ability to start right away, we used that as a selling point in the ad. And, due to the supply and demand, his fence leads were coming in at just $25 each.

Please note: lead costs are based on ad spend only. For example, if we spent $1500 in ads, and your lead cost was $50 per lead, then you’d get 30 leads. This does not take our monthly management fee into account.

If you’re interested in working together, but want to talk about your market first, set up a demo. I can learn more about your market and your unique offering and let you know if I think it’s a fit.

Brand Exposure Results

In addition to all the residential construction leads you’ll get, you get the ads themselves. These ads are shown to locals 25,000 to 70,000 times every single month. We see this brand effect have a real impact on revenue with the clients we work with.

Some customers want to do their research first. Rather than directly responding to the ad, they’ll look at your company name and find you on Google. They’ll read reviews, look at project photos, and reach out from your website.

I’ve noticed a trend with my clients that when we start running Facebook ads, they get busier from all their marketing sources.

How to Get The Best Results from Our Residential Lead Generation Program

1. Get Pictures of Your Work

It’s important to run ads that line up with what you can do for customers. When customers see your ads, it should feel real and tangible. They should be able to picture the work being done on their own home.

While stock photos may work fine for what you need, the more pictures you have of your work (especially more and after!) the more options we’ll have to choose from. And the more options we have, the more good options we’ll have.

2. Offer Consultations & Design

For high ticket projects, customers will want to feel confident with the company they move forward with. Sometimes this confidence needs to be built over a period of a few weeks or months of communication.

If you’re willing to have this consultative attitude and hold your customer’s hands through the process, you’ll have an edge in turning your construction leads into construction customers.

3. Be Visible and Build Trust

A lot of the leads who reach out to you from Facebook will have never heard of your company before. It’s important to create a good impression early on by calling the customer quickly, and following up with them via phone call and text.

At Service Allies, we provide video training and even a lead management system that allows you to do this. Following the recommendations in that training and following up with your prospects on a regular schedule will help you close more high ticket construction projects.

4. Good Reviews

A high percentage of customers will do their own research on your company. Having a good rating on Google and lots of reviews will help you build trust. If you have a list of happy customers, but haven’t been collecting reviews, this article will show you a great way to ask for reviews.

5. Professional Website with Project Photos

Service Allies doesn’t offer website design. We specialize only in Facebook Ads. But for residential construction companies, a website with a construction portfolio is almost always a necessity.

A professional website that features photos of your work will help your customers feel more confident in moving forward with you. When they do their research on you, there should be something to find!

Two reputable companies that offer website design to construction companies are:

Getting Started

If you’d like to get started, or at least are interested, schedule a call with Service Allies. I’ll ask some questions about your company and let you know if I feel like it’s a good fit or not. If I do, then we’ll walk through how our program works.

If you decide to move forward with us, our next step would be an onboarding call.

1. Onboarding

Our relationship will begin with an in-depth onboarding call. We’ll work out your unique offering, areas you’d like to target, and I’ll have you send me all the project photos you have. The goal of this call is to provide Service Allies with everything we need to begin setting up your ads.

2. Setup

We’ll build your ad campaigns, set up your lead management system, and create a sales video on your company’s behalf.

3. Launch

After 7 days of setup, your ads will be ready to launch! We’ll have our launch call and launch your ads on the same day. From this point, residential construction leads almost always start coming in within 1-3 days.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge?

You will have two separate costs. The first cost is ad spend, which Facebook will bill you directly for. I typically recommend a monthly budget of $1000 - $2000 to start. Since the average lead cost is $50 in ad spend per lead, this should get you roughly between 20-40 leads monthly. If you need more or less, we can adjust advertising spend as you need. The second cost is our agency fees, which are only available on a live demo call.

Are these leads good quality?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. To a large extent, however, the amount of leads you book will depend on the amount of effort you put into following up with them.

How long does it take to start working?

When a new client signs up, we start with an onboarding call, and launch 7 days later. Over the past 5 years I’ve run this lead generation program, I’ve never seen it take longer than 2-3 days after launch to start getting leads.

How many people are you working with in my market?

We only serve one contractor in a local market. Even if you are part of a large metro area, we’ll single out an exclusive zone just for you. We still have a relatively small client base at the time of writing, so there is a good chance your market is still available. However, the sooner you reach out the better.

How many contractors are going to get the leads?

Just you. Facebook ads will be shown under your business name, and all the generated leads will be exclusively yours.

What if I'm not on Facebook or don't have a business page?

No problem. It's fairly simple to set up a Facebook business page, so we can do this for you at no extra charge. Also, don't worry if your current Facebook page doesn't have many likes. It doesn't seem to affect the volume or quality of leads at all.

How do you get the leads?

We get leads by running ads on Facebook. Ads are like Facebook posts, except you pay Facebook to show your ad to a specific local area and demographic. If you currently don’t use Facebook, or don’t have a Facebook page, that is no problem. We’ll set up a page on your behalf to run ads from.
